Our Vision

Primavera Montessori School is a not-for-profit school focusing on Montessori education for children from two years of age through the elementary years. Our educational philosophy recognizes the learning styles, temperaments, and multiple intelligences of all children and emphasizes peace education. Integral to all of our programs is a focus on physical development and outdoor education. The large outdoor spaces on our campuses allow our guides to incorporate gross motor movement into the children’s daily activities and provide ample space for our gardening program. Specialized playgrounds, gardens, and outdoor courtyards, which are geared appropriately to the ages of our children, are located adjacent to the toddler, primary, and elementary classrooms.

Primavera Montessori School currently houses eight classrooms on three large campuses, providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for children ranging from toddlers through the fifth grade. Next year, we will expand our educational curriculum to educate children through the sixth grade.

Our Mission

The mission of Primavera Montessori School is to provide a learning community environment where the spirit of the whole child is nurtured and celebrated. Our school has a powerful foundation of Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of education. We are dedicated to a climate that honors the learning styles, temperaments, and multiple intelligences of all children. To attend to the heart of the child, we provide a very strong emotional IQ curriculum, taught and modeled by an excellently trained and skilled team.

Incorporated into our philosophy is a commitment to the further development of Peace Education. We desire to create a school community supportive of the family that models health, mutual respect, creativity, cooperation, and diversity: a multi-dimensional approach toward the science of peace.

We are clear that our children are our most precious resource in creating a peaceful and productive future. Our mission is to empower every child’s creative and joyous spirit and to guide him or her toward a lasting love of learning and a true experience of a loving and supportive community.

Our History

Primavera Montessori School was incorporated as a non-profit organization in April of 2002, and we opened the doors of 6405 Manchaca Road to our first students in October of that year. The school was founded by a group of educators dedicated to creating a Montessori-based environment that honored the learning styles, temperaments, and multiple intelligences of all children. Integral to their philosophy was a commitment to peace education.

That first year, the building on Manchaca Road housed one toddler classroom and one primary classroom. The school now provides a learning environment for children from ages 18 months through the fifth grade and houses two young children's community classrooms, three primary classrooms, a kindergarten class, one lower elementary class and one upper elementary class. Although our space and our classes have grown and some of the faces on the campus have changed, Primavera has maintained the focus initially dreamed of by the four original founders. It is still an intimate, Montessori learning community that honors the learning styles, temperaments, and multiple intelligences of all children.

A second, small, toddler class is opened, and a portable building is acquired to house a second primary class.

Summer 2004
Primavera purchases a former preschool a stone’s throw away from the Manchaca campus at 1934 Berkeley Avenue. The campus is renovated through the fall.

A portion of the outdoor space is fenced off to create a specialized toddler play area for our youngest students. A second elementary class starts on the 6405 Manchaca campus. That campus now houses a Kindergarten class and a lower elementary class of first and second graders. The portable building is removed from the campus.
